The very first time I got to taste Guinness beer was during a Christmas Party in Singapore. The dark brown color on a clear glass with nice pillowy bubbles attracted me to it. It has a bittersweet taste with some slight creaminess and smells of roasted malt. I love it! So, I was thrilled when I found out that Guinness is releasing something new and exciting this year… and I was a part of it!
Last September 10, 2015 at the Intermark Hotel KL, Guinness celebrated it’s 50 years of brewing in Malaysia by launching three limited-edition designs that will be showcased on all bottles and cans of Guinness Foreign Stout starting September 10 to November, until stocks last.
The three limited-edition bottle designs are the masterpieces created by an awesome collaboration, consisting of five Malaysian creative visionaries. The team is composed of graphic artist Lefty (Julian Kam), artist Donald Abraham, photographer Vincent Paul Yong, musician Edwin Raj of ‘They Will Kill Us All’ band and film director James Lee.
“Collaborations like this can be tricky, but it all came together very well.” said Edwin. Lefty added, “It’s not everyday you get to have that kind of creative energy in a room.”
Upon entering the event proper, I was greeted by three booths presenting Guinness in Malaysia through the years.
I also got to enjoy Guinness beer with my blogger friends. I looove the Guinness beer ice cream float.
And a little photo op here and there…
The event kick started with a mind-blowing dance performance before the three limited-edition designs were unveiled.
“It’s a very fitting way to celebrate the milestone of 50 years of brewing Guinness in Malaysia. Guinness has a long and storied relationship with Malaysia, so it’s particularly pleasing to be able to launch this world-first here.” said Bruce Dallas, Marketing Director at Guinness Anchor Berhad.
