I was lucky enough to have chanced upon the “Gundam Docks at Singapore” exhibit at the Ngee Ann City Civic Plaza during my recent visit in SG. Suffice to say I was awed by the spectacular display of Gundam models in the exhibit and Gundam merchandises and kits from Master Grade to Perfect Grade, made available for the fanatics, found at the Takashamiya Square B2.

The facade of the Ngee Ann City Civic Plaza has a fine display of two 6 metre tall 1/3 scale models of Zaku and RX-78-2 Gundam. There were also 10 life-size Zaku models lined up towards the entrance of the Ngee Ann City mall.

Plus various prints and posters were set up in the Kunio Okawara Gallery.

To take part in Singapore’s celebration of it’s 50th Birthday, Kunio Okawara, famous Japanese mechanic designer, created a Limited Edition SG50 Gundam Kit as tribute. The design of the RX-78-2 Gundam Ver.SG50 as well as the red and white color is inspired by Singapore’s national flag. The model kits were sold for $38.95 each but were immediately sold out during the opening day of the exhibit.
