Hotel Review: St. Giles The Gardens Hotel & Residences

I love shopping and staying in hotels for a holiday get-away. Imagine having both in one spot where you dine and lodge a fine hotel and when you go out you have direct access to two malls in Kuala Lumpur.

I’ve been invited to experience a quick staycation at The Gardens Hotel & Residences, right beside the Midvalley Mall and connected to posh The Gardens mall. And I don’t need to travel far as it is within the city.

The moment I stepped out of the car a friendly crew immediately helped me with my luggage and upon reaching the lobby the receptionists welcomed me with a big smile. Booking wasn’t an issue as the receptionists are very efficient and amiable.

I was actually checked in at one of the Deluxe Rooms and I have to say I am quite impressed at the interiors. As soon as I stepped in my room I was welcomed with a nice spacious room overlooking the city, it was fancy yet homey. The vibe was very welcoming.

There’s a reading couch right beside the window where I was able relax and read a good book while looking at the great city view of Kuala Lumpur.

The bed is huge and comfy. What’s more, the hotel offers a pillow menu with quite a good selection of pillows.

I appreciate the fact that there is good utilization of space in the room. Also the coffee and tea making facility as well the mini refrigerator is found beneath the cabinet shelf by the entrance.

And each section of the bathroom is separated by glass, which was perfect for me because I was able to move freely inside without bumping into things.

After settling in, I decided to head out to the pool area in the 5th floor for some reading. On my way there, I passed by the gym and was impressed by how spacious it is! I can do cartwheels in there if I want to! And the equipments are topnotch!

Right in front of the gym is the pool area, with a view of the city proper. The area has a kiddie pool and adult pool. There’s also a bar where you can order snacks and drinks while hanging out by the pool. The friendly and accommodating guy manning the bar was very attentive, I simply love their service.

For lunch, I went to their restaurant called “The Spread”. The friendly restaurant manager showed me their weekday buffet lunch, which is open every weekdays from 12pm to 2.30 pm. I was even told there’s an Open Ice Cream Bar, which is one of the restaurant’s highlights.

Later that afternoon, I felt like taking a stroll, so I headed down back to the lobby. There’s an exit there which immediately took me to The Gardens mall. Very convenient indeed!

For high-tea that afternoon, I decided to head to the “Lobby Bar” with a friend, which is located within the hotel’s lobby itself. It’s a posh lounge with cushy seats. I took advantage of their Mini Finger Sandwiches promo, which includes fries and softdrinks for RM45.

After the day’s activities, I felt really lazy to head out for dinner, so I resolved to call for room service, which is open 24 hours daily. I ordered a steak, lasagna and chicken cordon bleu. My orders arrived in my room in just 30 minutes and I was very amused watching the staff set up the portable table in front of me. Pardon me, but this was my first time ordering room service.

The next day I felt so refreshed due to my relaxing stay at the hotel. I would have to say St. Giles is perfect venue for a quick and convenient staycation in the city.
